A festive and tangy Holiday Cranberry Jalapeño Dip combining fresh cranberries, jalapeño peppers, green onions, and whipped cream cheese for a perfect party appetizer with a sweet and spicy kick.

Ingredients

Scale

Fresh Produce

  • 12 oz fresh, uncooked cranberries
  • 1/4 cup green onion, chopped
  • 12 fresh jalapeño peppers, chopped
  • 2 Tbsp cilantro, chopped (optional)
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice

Other Ingredients

  • 3/4 to 1 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 16 oz cream cheese, softened and whipped

Instructions

  1. Chop Cranberries: Use a food chopper to finely chop the fresh cranberries for a consistent texture in the dip.
  2. Prepare Vegetables: Chop the green onions, jalapeño peppers, and cilantro (if using) into small pieces.
  3. Combine Ingredients: In a medium-sized bowl, combine the chopped cranberries, green onions, jalapeños, and cilantro.
  4. Add Seasonings: Sprinkle sugar, lemon juice, and salt over the cranberry mixture and gently stir until thoroughly blended.
  5. Refrigerate Overnight: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight to help flavors meld and the sugar to dissolve.
  6. Strain Liquids: Remove the mixture from the fridge, stir well, and then strain out excess liquid using a colander with small holes. Save the liquid for cocktail syrup if desired.
  7. Whip Cream Cheese: Use a hand mixer to whip the softened cream cheese until smooth, about 2 minutes.
  8. Assemble the Dip: Spread the whipped cream cheese evenly over the bottom of a pie plate or 9×9 dish.
  9. Add Cranberry Mixture: Spoon the strained cranberry jalapeño mixture over the cream cheese layer and refrigerate until ready to serve.
  10. Serve: Spread the dip over Ritz crackers or your favorite crackers and enjoy the sweet, spicy holiday treat.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of sugar based on your preferred sweetness level.
  • Use gloves when chopping jalapeños to avoid irritation.
  • Save the strained juice for making festive cocktail syrups or drinks.
  • Allow the dip to chill for several hours or overnight to enhance flavors.
  • For a milder dip, remove jalapeño seeds before chopping.
