These Irresistible Tiramisu Truffles combine the classic flavors of tiramisu into bite-sized, decadent treats. Creamy mascarpone mixed with espresso-soaked crushed ladyfingers is formed into balls, dipped in rich dark chocolate, and dusted with cocoa powder to create an elegant dessert that’s perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Truffle Mixture

  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups crushed ladyfingers (Savoiardi)
  • 2 tablespoons espresso or strong coffee
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Chocolate Coating and Dusting

  • 1 1/2 cups dark or semi-sweet chocolate, melted
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the truffle mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine the mascarpone cheese, crushed ladyfingers, powdered sugar, espresso, and vanilla extract. Mix thoroughly until a thick, dough-like consistency is achieved that can hold its shape.
  2. Chill the mixture: Cover the bowl and refrigerate the mixture for 1 to 2 hours. This chilling step firms up the mixture, making it easier to shape into balls.
  3. Shape the truffles: Once chilled, scoop out portions of the mixture and roll them into 1-inch balls using your hands. Place the formed balls on a parchment-lined tray and refrigerate again for 30 minutes to set.
  4. Dip in melted chocolate: Melt the dark or semi-sweet chocolate until smooth. Using a fork, dip each truffle into the melted chocolate, allowing excess chocolate to drip off before placing them back onto the parchment-lined tray.
  5. Dust and set: Before the chocolate layer fully sets, dust the truffles with unsweetened cocoa powder for an authentic tiramisu finish. Allow the truffles to harden completely at room temperature or chill briefly in the refrigerator.

Notes

  • Use freshly brewed espresso or strong coffee for the best tiramisu flavor.
  • If you prefer a sweeter touch, adjust the powdered sugar to taste.
  • Store the truffles in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • For a crunchier texture, try adding finely chopped nuts to the mixture before chilling.
  • Allow the truffles to come to room temperature briefly before serving for optimal flavor and texture.
