4.8 from 66 reviews

Delicious and easy-to-make Oreo Balls made with crushed Oreo cookies blended with cream cheese, then dipped in melted chocolate for a perfect sweet treat suitable for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Oreo Mixture

  • 36 regular Oreo cookies
  • 1 (8-ounce) package brick-style cream cheese, softened (226 grams)

Chocolate Coating

  • 16 ounces chocolate (semi-sweet, milk, or white chocolate, 452 grams)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Baking Sheet: Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside to make sure the Oreo balls don’t stick during freezing and dipping.
  2. Crush the Oreos: Add Oreos to a blender or food processor and process until fine crumbs form. Transfer the crumbs to a large bowl, reserving 1 to 2 tablespoons for sprinkling later.
  3. Mix with Cream Cheese: Add the softened cream cheese to the Oreo crumbs. Use a handheld mixer to combine thoroughly, scraping the sides of the bowl to ensure an even mixture.
  4. Form Oreo Balls: Scoop out one-tablespoon sized portions of the mixture, roll them into smooth balls, and arrange them on the prepared baking sheet. Then freeze for at least 20 minutes to firm them up.
  5. Melt the Chocolate: Chop the chocolate and place it in a microwave-safe bowl. Melt it in 20 to 30 second increments, stirring well between each until smooth and fully melted.
  6. Dip in Chocolate: Coat each Oreo ball fully in the melted chocolate and place it back onto the parchment-lined baking sheet. Sprinkle the reserved Oreo crumbs atop the balls immediately after dipping for extra texture and decoration.
  7. Chill to Set: Refrigerate the coated Oreo balls for at least 20 minutes or until the chocolate hardens completely. Then serve and enjoy your homemade Oreo balls!

Notes

  • Use cream cheese at room temperature for easier mixing.
  • Try different types of chocolate coating like dark, milk, or white for flavor variations.
  • Store Oreo balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • For a festive touch, add sprinkles or colored sugars before the chocolate sets.
  • Freezing the balls before dipping helps the coating adhere better and reduces melting.
