Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 packet ranch seasoning mix (about 1 oz)
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Optional Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for searing)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Sear the chicken (optional): Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sear the chicken breasts for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown to add extra flavor.
  2. Prepare the sauce: In the crockpot, combine the cream of chicken soup, ranch seasoning mix, chicken broth, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Stir well to create a creamy sauce base.
  3. Add chicken: Place the chicken breasts into the crockpot and coat them thoroughly with the sauce mixture.
  4. Cook the chicken: Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is fully cooked and tender.
  5. Shred the chicken: Using two forks, shred the cooked chicken breasts in the crockpot and mix it evenly into the creamy sauce.
  6. Finish with sour cream and garnish: Stir in sour cream for added creaminess and richness. If desired, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Searing the chicken is optional but enhances flavor and texture.
  • For a thicker sauce, cook uncovered for the last 30 minutes to reduce liquid.
  • Use low sodium chicken broth if watching sodium intake.
  • This recipe pairs well with rice, mashed potatoes, or steamed vegetables.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
