Meat and Protein
- 1 lb shredded smoked turkey
- 4 sliced andouille sausages
Vegetables
- 1 chopped celery stalk
- 3 chopped carrots
- 1/2 yellow onion, chopped
- 1 red tomato, chopped
- 1 whole garlic bulb, minced
Seasonings and Oils
- 3–4 tablespoons Tony’s No Salt Seasoning
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Liquids
- 2–3 cups turkey or chicken stock
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Prepare the Vegetables: Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the minced garlic, chopped onion, celery, and carrots. Sauté until the vegetables are softened and fragrant, about 5–7 minutes.
- Add Sausage: Stir in the sliced andouille sausage and cook for an additional 3–4 minutes, allowing the sausage to brown slightly and release its flavors.
- Incorporate Turkey and Seasoning: Add the shredded smoked turkey along with 3 to 4 tablespoons of Tony’s No Salt Seasoning. Mix well to combine all the flavors in the pot.
- Add Tomato and Stock: Stir in the chopped red tomato and pour in 2 to 3 cups of turkey or chicken stock. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 15–20 minutes so the flavors meld beautifully.
- Finish with Cream: Pour in 1 cup of heavy cream and cook for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until heated through. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
- Serve: Ladle the soup into bowls and serve hot. Optionally, garnish with fresh herbs like parsley or thyme for an extra burst of flavor and color.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, consider adding a pinch of cayenne pepper or hot sauce.
- You can substitute heavy cream with half-and-half or coconut milk for a lighter or dairy-free alternative.
- Leftover soup can be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 2 months.
- Using homemade turkey stock will enhance the depth of flavor, but store-bought works well too.
- Vegetarian variations can be made by omitting the sausage and turkey, substituting with smoked tofu and vegetable broth.
